Tweed Scott has a deep-rooted passion for Texas. He didn’t get to Texas as quick as he could. He got here as quick as he got sent. Joining the Navy to see the world, he found himself stationed in Kingsville, TX. It was way different than New Hampshire where he grew up. He adopted his new state and began to explore Texas and why Texans are the way they are—where all that attitude comes from. He set out to find what he calls the ‘T-Chromosome.’ The result was his 3-time national award-winning book, Texas In Her Own Words.

His other passion is sharing what he calls the ‘Gospel of Texas.’ He is particularly adept at connecting Texans with their heritage. He drills down to the core of the source of the Texan character and helps people rediscover what makes them different than anyone else in the world.
He is a retired broadcaster of 31 years and a graduate of Lamar University. He lives in Austin with his wife and has two grown children. He has written for magazines including the Austin Business Journal and is a member of the Writer’s League of Texas. He’s working on another book, Texas, 50 over 50. (50 Texas home grown businesses over 50 years old)

PRESENTATION 1

This presentation is geared for school environments teaching history & Texas History. ‘Inventing Texas ’ is the true story of how the Texas image was invented or manufactured and it all started with some children and a famous dead man. Tweed shows each class how children, just like them, had a role in this thing we call the ‘Story of Texas.’ He helps children connect with their Texas heritage.

PRESENTATION 2

Texas was created by people who fulfilled dreams. You had to earn the right to live in early day Texas . You earned it by surviving. Those pioneers had two options—lie down, quit and die—or get up and figure out how it make it happen. For them, No was NOT an Option. That‘s what they did and that is the source of the Texan character or what Tweed calls the ‘T-Chromosome.’ Those early settlers developed a set of ABC’s that determined how to succeed—Attitude, Belief in oneself and each other and creating the Confidence.

PRESENTATION 3

Trivia is just a lot of fun. Texas is a remarkable place full of fascinating facts & people. This presentation is chock full of things that you may or may not have known about Texas . Tweed promises that audiences will learn things about Texas they never knew before.
